Ready?
6am wake. Work out. Coffee. Shower. 7:30 leave. Survive the drive to school. 8:00 round on my two patients. 9:00 Gyn clinic. Waiting for patients. 9:30 Consultant shows up. No patients. Dismisses me. Hang out on L&D. Ward rounding with consultant on postpartum. Intense. I sweat. 12:00 done for the day. ATM. Airport with Alicia to pick up her two friends. Wait, first get her cousin. Get her friends. Head to Hellshire. Get pulled over by police. Hellshire for lunch. Eat fish. Eat an oyster and hope for the best. Alicia's aunt shows up to take care of the car registration (which was discovered to be expired when pulled over). Leave. Some man swears his loyalty and undying love for me promising to never cheat "have bun" while together at the car. I politely decline. On the road. Stop at Alicia's grandfather's horse racing farm. Pet a stallion. See weird birds. Get mangoes. Camera dies. On the road. Truck full of machine gun toting police officers. One blows a kiss at me. Alicia asks if I can take one for the team and try to clear up the ticket. (She is kidding, of course) I politely decline. Alicia's grandmother's house to try to straighten out the registration. I sit. Water. Bathroom. On the road. Drop of the cousin. Home. 7pm. Pictures below.
Waiting at
Gyn clinic.
Postpartum floor. 4 beds per section. The other two are across from the two in the picture. No doors or anything. The babies stay with the mothers.
Ward 11 rounding. I did not get to take many pictures. Do you see the look the consultant is cutting me? Yeah. No more pictures.
Hellshire.
Where we ate at is one the right.
Prendy'sIn the front.
Looking in the building
Looking out the back. We sat at the table on the right. Not sure why it is so dark. I took the video in the last post outside the doorway.
Alicia started to order for us (no menus ) and then beckoned me over to the cooler....
....where I was to pick out my fish! All I kept thinking was no cloudy eyes! No cloudy eyes!
The kitchen is right behind the fish.
Apparently Jamaica has the highest number of churches and bars per
capita. (That is what people keep telling me.) This sign illustrates that nicely. The above part is some sort of prayer. The bottom part is self
explanatory.
Lunch. We also got festival and bammy.
Enjoying the meal.
Not the smartest decision I ever made. That is a raw oyster. I know, I know. Stupid. Hoping and praying I don't regret it!! Plus, my hair looks ridiculous.
Driving up to the horse farm
Miracle man
Beauty! Clearly the career as national geographic photographer is out.
The rest of the pics are on the farm as is the video. It was so beautiful there!
Tomorrow I have antenatal clinic and then off for a mini vacation with Jon. We are leaving for Montego Bay tomorrow after clinic. We are stopping in Ochos Rios for Dunns River Falls where Jon is meeting us. Then we continue on to Montego Bay until Sunday. Probably will not update until I get back. So excited! On Monday I should start L&D at the public hospital! Pray for me!!
