So, April 4th at approximately 12:35 I finally made my way through baggage claim, customs, and more customs and stepped out into the shining Jamaican sun.
(I survived the flight. A small feat considering we had to return to the gate for maintenance repairs. I went into A-fib. But I made it! I live!)
Anyway, I step into the Jamaican sun. Nervous. Anxious. Starting to regret the clothing choices I had made at 4am that morning. I expected to be greeted with someone carrying a sign. Instead I waited nervously for about an hour.
Enter Alicia!
My wonderful, amazing, kind second year medical student who took me out for an incredible Jamaican meal, mini tour of Kingston and some historical sites and then to Devon House for-seriously- the best rum raisin ice cream I have ever had. Seriously.
Now enter The Apt.
The apartment I am staying it beyond amazing. I am staying here with Maurilee who is a third year medical student and functions as my yellow pages, water supplier, taxi, and all around awesome person. She will be driving me to the University Hospital for my rotations. And she stays at a rocking apartment. Pool people, she has a private pool nestled into the mountain side.
So, I am here. Enjoying the breezeSweating yes, but very happy and excited to see what tomorrow brings. (I think the pool since it is a holiday) : )
